Friday’s Walk – Back in Action!
Our Friday Camelon walk re launched on Friday 2nd April, leaving from Forth Valley Sensory Centre Garden at 11.30am, and we were delighted to see everyone back walking with us. We had a great turnout and the sun was shining! We hope we can welcome new walkers very soon therefore keep a look out for updates. Nanairo Ekiden, big succes!
While the overall objective of the ‘Nanairo Ekiden’ (7 colour Japanese relay) series is to teach participants about the 7 Olympic/Paralympic values, this event additionally focused on emphasizing the importance of International Women’s Day within sports, whilst bringing Scottish and Japanese culture together.
Forth Valley Disability Regional School and Clubs Swimming Championships 2020
Grangemouth Sports Complex was host to Forth Valley Disability Sport Regional School and Club Swimming Championships on Saturday 7th March 2020.
Clubs and schools from throughout the Forth Valley and guests from Lothian and Dumfries and Galloway Areas entered teams to compete in 25m, 50m and 100m events in Freestyle, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Backstroke.
The event was very well attended with every swimmer having a fun and enjoyable time.
75 swimmers competed in the event to a very high standard. Many of who achieved the qualifying times for the Scottish Disability Sport National Swimming Championships that take place later this year.
The competition was very close and there was very little time between placing in many of the events, which made for a great atmosphere and lots of cheering from the spectator’s gallery.
Forth Valley Disability Sport Awards Night 2019
Forth Valley Disability Sport held their Awards night at the Stirling Albert Halls on Monday 24th February 2020. The event was a great success with over 120 in attendance. The purpose of this award ceremony is to reward and acknowledge the hard work and dedication of athletes, coaches and volunteers in the year of 2019.
Angus Whyte, FVDS Chair Person, welcomed all the guests and conducted the AGM. Our buffet was then followed by speaker Aileen Neilson, Paralympic Wheelchair Curler, and Get Out Get Active project update from Lead Officer Eva Finlayson. Graham Harvey, FVDS Branch Coordinator, then presented the awards ceremony which briefly highlighted each of the achievements of the nominees from 11 categories of awards.

A big thank you goes to all our award sponsors listed below and a special thank you must go to Sheridan Property Consultants and Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire Councils provosts who sponsored the evening by providing the excellent venue and buffet for all attendees.
FVDS Senior Boccia 2020
Forth Valley Disability Sport Regional Senior Boccia Championships was held at the Grangemouth Sports Complex on Thursday 30th January 2020. 45 individuals from throughout the Forth Valley Area participated in this event.
FVDS would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped & supported at this event enabling it to run smoothly, the helpers and carers that came with the participating school on the day: referees; young volunteers, sports leaders and staff from Active Stirling, Scottish Disability Sport and volunteers from the Centre Forward programme at Forth Valley College.
